The New ConTex (Container Ship Time Charter Assessment Index) has been published by the Association of Hamburg and Bremen Shipbrokers (VHBS) since October 2007. This is a company-independent index for time charter rates for container ships. It is based on the assessment of current daily charter rates for six selected container ship types that are representative of the respective ship classes. The assessment of the 1,100 TEU and 1,700 TEU types is now based on a 6-month charter, while a 12-month charter is assumed for the 2,500, 2,700, 3,500 and 4,250 TEU types.

In addition, the market assessments of the participating panellists for the 1,100 TEU (geared, 12 months) and 1,700 TEU (geared, 12 months), 1,800 TEU (gearless, 6 months) 2,500 TEU (geared, 12 months), 2,700 TEU (gearless, 12 months), 3,500 TEU (gearless, 24 months) and 4,250 TEU (gearless, 24 months). This data is not included in the New ConTex calculation. Rather, they represent additional information intended to provide an even more accurate picture of the current market situation.
